Self Concepts: Beliefs, Values and Attitudes

Self-concept is the belief about him/herself that how he/she does role play in a society.  It can be understood when a person is communicating. This is a lifelong process that gradually changes and increases by the process of communication.  It is very important to build a relationship to other’s people in society. A person can build up his self concept by the motivation and the feedback provided.  Self-concept is a belief that leads to a better understood about self.  It is a perception that shows or impacts inter-personal communication. It can be determined by the self awareness of an individual. Emotions, feelings, appearance, social traits, friendly behavior are directly or indirectly related to self concept.
If you have the answer to the question, “Who am I?” it can be said that you have a self concept about yourself. Self concept is praised by the family, their socio-economic and education background. It is also influenced by the culture where you were born and grown up. Media is one of the influencing tools that shape the self concept of people these days. How the teachers teach in the class also may be a good feedback to change the self concept of a student. Self concept of a person is affected by significant role of the instructor that he/she gets understand him/herself. As a person grows older, his increase in the thinking level of his concept makes him/her mature. Which political party do you like? Do you like congress or re-public?  You are influenced by either one or both or none. All in all, my self-concept is influenced by my culture, religion, feedback of teachers and my family background and media.
For effective communication, he/she needs to know and identify his/her values, beliefs and attitudes. Both belief and value guide our action and behavior to form an attitude. The people who follow Buddhism differ to the people who follow Christian because of their beliefs and values. Belief is our concept that we think it is true or the things we hold to be true whereas values are ideas which we prefer as important things.  Values govern the way we communicate to others in society. Our attitude can be determined by our values and belief that we follow.
The process of communication is regulated by our beliefs, values and attitudes because they are linked together. If we can prejudge ourselves then only we can influence our perception through communication in our society. For example, beliefs are necessary to understand the culture and if we learn the culture, it is easy to know the people. Our belief and values have great impact on our feelings and decision making. Values are more reliable than belief and attitude. Belief is the personal knowledge that we think to be true, but may not be true others. Attitude is the behavior of feelings that can be shown and understand while a person acts and communicates. Attitude is our self concept that helps to evaluate like, dislike and express of our opinion. What I believe may not be believable to the other people. Things I value may not be valuables in others point of view. what exactly are your beliefs and values?
Since the value are ideal, long lasting and guides our behavior. For example, my family is very important to me and I have their photo hanging on the wall.  Nowadays, people from abroad know the value of education, so they give more emphasis on time for learning and communicating. My beliefs are my convictions and confidence.  Being Hindu, I like to wear artifacts that reflect Hinduism. Similarly, Christian people like to wear the bracelets and chain made with the images of Jesus Christ. I was not supposed to eat beef, but I started to eat it when I came to the U.S. I think it does not matter to eat chicken or beef or pork to me, but it can be a big thing to others.  People evaluate me by my attitude. It evaluates the dispositions about me, other people, places, concepts and objects. I have been changing my attitude. I used to get angry very often.  When I knew the fact that my anger is bad for me, I started to smile. I do not want to show my angriness when I speak in public. I spend time talking to myself to be positive.(A GOOD PRACTICE) I am changing my attitude to change some of the belief and values that I have to change.  Therefore, we communicate verbally or non-verbally with each other with the use of self-concept that is regulated by our beliefs, values and attitudes.

Politically Correct Language

People in the world speak different languages, but the political correctness is one of the important factors while speaking. Language is a powerful tool to communicate, but it sometimes can hurt the speaker if we don’t use it right. Yes, political correctness affected the way people communicate in positive manner. People are required to use more abstract word when communicating. Politically correct language can be considered as speech communication codes by which we are bounded. It is the rules of language how we talk to minimize offence to the race, gender, religion, socio-economic class, ethnicity, sexuality, disabled, and age.  Politically incorrect words are referred to the language codes that can be offensive to the minorities.  The important benefit of using politically correct language is not to offend and exclude others.
I also use some political incorrectness language codes when I speak. One of among them is the use of “men” either writing in the article or when I communicate. It is considered politically incorrect language. Your dialects are a series of languages pushing back and forth.  Language changes the way we think. For instance, it is politically correct to use the word ‘server’ instead of saying ‘waiter’ which is politically incorrect. Similarly, politically correct language is the use of words which is unbiased such as actor, flight attendant etc. How do people react when you use these words? Try for it.
The use of politically incorrect languages creates a conflict. We have seen a lot of program on Television and in News paper about Politically incorrect language.  Politically correct language gives an idea to an individual to think before speaking so that the speaker do not use offensive words that hurt the audience. According to Katherine Schulten, in the article titled, “What is your reaction to the Rugh Limbough controversy?”  Rush Limbough apologizes for the attack on student about birth control as he used the word “prostitute” and “slut” about Sandra Fluke. It was considered a political attack.
There is a well known proverb in Nepal “the tongue does not have the edges, but it can hurt the heart.” It is true and it makes sense that why we are supposed to use politically correct language. A single word can hurt the listener. In political sector, a lot of politician gets blamed because of not using the political correct languages while in a mass communication. Each and Every profession is linked with using political correct language. Student, teacher, employee, politician have to speak using correct political language in order to make sure that no one gets hurt by the word used by speaker.
Every people in the society are equal, so they should be treated equally. To maintain the concept of equality in the community, the use of the political correct language is very important. It helps in minimizing discrimination, insult; nevertheless, it is good concept to respect the identity of a person. Political correct language helps to stop the openly prejudge (as well as racism) among people. People have a right to speak and use words as long as they do not harm anybody.
In conclusion, political correct language codes are very important to make a tolerant society and equality among the people. It is a code of language that would not cause an individual of minority or it s group to feel offended. We talk about people in society while we speak, so it is very important that the people should not be excluded, offended and diminished. Since we live in society and talk about them while we speak, political correctness affected the way people communicate.

kathmandu: capital city of nepal, city of thousands of temple

Similarly,Kathmandu is also capital city of Nepal which includes many culture, visiting places, different society and more are given below............
The Kathmandu Valley, the capital, is the political, commercial and cultural hub of Nepal. Spread across an area of 360 square kilometers and at an altitude of 1336 meter above the sea level, Kathmandu is an exotic and fascinating showcase of a very rich culture, art and tradition. The valley, roughly oval bowl measuring 24 km east-west and 19 km north-south, is encircled by a range of green terraced hills and dotted by compact clusters of red tiled-roofed houses.

A remarkable legend speaks that the valley was once covered by a lake until the Bodhisattva Manjushri raised his sword of wisdom and sliced a passage through the mountain walls, draining the water and creating the first settlements.

The valley embraces most of Nepal's ethinc groups, but Newars are the indigenous inhabitants and the creators of the valley's splendid civilization.

Not very long ago, it was said that there were just as many houses as there were temples and shrines in Kathmandu valley. Now, of course, that fact does not hold true because of the rapid urbanization and population growth in the last three decades. Nevertheless, the valley still exhibits a living, breathing entity,a vital culture that has miraculously survived till now.

The valley consists of three fabulous cities of great historic and cultural interest. These legendry cities go by the names of:

Kathmandu
Lalitpur or Patan
Bhaktapur

Beyond the urban milieu of these three ancient cities of the Kathmandu Valley, there are also villages and small towns that provide charming glimpses of rural life.

chitwan: national park at westen nepal

As I already mention you that Nepal is very rich country in getting natural gifts and wonderful location. Here one another beautiful city in Nepal is Chitwan which main attraction is Chitwan National Park. It is the best place for you to visit during your holidays in Nepal. So I would be happy to give you more information about Chitwan in details:-

Chitwan National Park has long been regarded as Nepal's third biggest attraction after trekking and the Kathmandu Valley. This huge and beautiful nature reserve protects 932 sq km of sal forest, water marshes and rippling grassland. The park is one of the last refuges of the endangered one-horned Indian rhino and there are sizeable populations of tigers, leopards and rare Gangetic dolphins.

Many people visit Chitwan on package tours arranged through travel agents in Kathmandu, Pokhara or overseas. This is by far the easiest approach if you plan to stay at one of the upmarket lodges inside the park.

When planning a visit to Chitwan, try to give yourself enough time for several safaris. The wildlife is unpredictable and you can't rely on sightings every time. Two whole days in the park is really the minimum for wildlife spotting. Be aware that the popular four-day, three-night packages to Chitwan include a day of travel at either end.
